DIY My House

Well this is the front of my house. It use to be an old Catholic church from 1900. Its a corner lot and is infested with thistles. Talk about a pain in my backside.I'm gonna have to dig them up this next summer, and fertilise the yard.Our homes exterior is stucco, and wood siding.There's some patch work that has to be done. I have to pain also and replace all the basement windows. I have to replace the front steps, or at least see if I can repair them. They are falling apart but if I have to take them down it will change the look of the home.Theres no garage. Its a big deal since we live in the Midwest and it snows here. I plan on landscaping the yard this coming summer. I didn't have time this year so I'll have to focus on the inside this winter.Another project that has to get done is a fence. We have 4 dogs and no fence. This is not good. I can't use a zip line, first of all its not fair for them, they can't run without getting caught, and you can't play with them. You get caught in the line and that just plain hurts. So much to do so little money. lol This is why we're going to do DIY! Learn as you go.

Here's the inside of the house. Not much to look at, but it has potential. First of all certain parts of the drywall have to be replaced, and painted. Theres some old wagon wheel lights. I'm thinking about re purposing some antique lights and using them. Replace the carpet with a wood floor. Not quite sure what kind or color I'm going for. I'm gonna fix the stairs so there's a backing so no one sticks their foot in the step and trip. Put some books cases and possibly do some wainscoting. Since this is a living/dinning I have my table and china cabinet. They are dark wood and I'm thinking of doing a french country treatment on them, but I'm not sure yet. Its a very long room and so I'm not sure how I want to set my house up yet. We are moved in already and working on it as we go. Talk about a pain in the neck.lol There are 4 bedrooms and one bathroom. That will have to be a different post all together. This room of course will have plenty of DIY projects to come. I will share all my struggles, tutorials, and pictures of my journey.



 
 
The last of my pictures is the kitchen. Holy Moly! As you can see paint is peeling, sticker tiles, and the aqua paint.lol Not very attractive right now. I have got some new kitchen cabinets from a house that was being remodeled. and a really nice sink. I plan on putting a checkerboard floor, revamp the cabinets I go, and I also already got a new Fridge and oven. they are both black. My colors have have chosen to use was french country or maybe a Tuscan flare.Their will be plenty of bloopers with this one I'm sure.






Well I welcome any ideas, and comments about my diamond in the rough. I hope I can help anyone to get up and take a chance.
